Well another season has finished and although parts of the season were frustrating due to lack of rain in the spring and summer, as well as the weeks of endless sunshine which were hard going, I think over all it wasn’t too bad considering we are dealing with mother nature and other things that are out with our control but this wild animal, the salmon,  doesn't read the same books as we do.

It was also good to see many of the familiar faces on the beat and new ones as well and we look forward to seeing you all in 2023.

The last full week of the season we had really good conditions with a steadily falling water all week and some lovely autumn days but the fish were a bit dour although we did land 10 salmon and 1 grilse.  Notable catches were Alex Penman on Monday with a 14lb er from the Lower Ferroch on a Red Francis. On Tuesday Ken Mackenzie landed two fish, a 12lb er from Upper Ferroch and a 9lb er from Grey Mare both on an OAP half inch tube and last bit not least Lewis Blair landing 2 for his few days, a 15lb er from Glister on Friday and a cock fish of 21lb on Saturday from the Cottage, both on a size 8 Cascade. The 21lb fish is the largest from Cairnton and Middle blackhall this season.
