This past week was pretty good for conditions with the water height on Monday sitting at 11" and slowly dropping as the week went on and the water temperature in the 56/57f area then climbing to the low 60s Fahrenheit with more humid/hot weather at the end of the week. Catches for the week were 1 Salmon and 7 grilse including a couple of licers and the others all reasonably fresh plus we had a few more lost up and down the beat. Noteable catches were Kevin Taylor (Cairnton proprietor) landing a fresh 4lb grilse in Rockhead and having a hold of another couple and Liam Roberts landing 2 fresh grilse and connecting with a few more for his first visit to Cairnton. Flies that were doing the trick were Cascades, Flamethrowers and Crathies.
Weather for the week ahead looks to be mixed with rain at the start of the week with more showery and brighter days plus more heavier rain towards Thursday. Winds from a westerly direction then more northerly as the week goes on.
Cheers Brian
