It's unusual to see the river down to summer levels in October when last year at this time the rain just never seemed to ease off, but no complaints with the fine weather aswell as the amazing colours on the trees along the river bank at the moment, which are stunning.  There are good numbers of fish in the beat just now which in some of the pools are fairly visible as the clarity of the water is so clear. We finished up with 7 salmon/grilse to 12lb for the week with small Snaelda's, Black Allys, Red Francis and Sunray doing the trick. Water heights were 6" on Monday and finishing on Saturday at 3". Water temperatures were 45/50 Fahrenheit.

Notable catch this week was Richard Pembroke with a couple of 5lb ers which keeps his fishing trip record to the beat intact.

Not long to go now to the end of the season. Fancy one last throw? We have a limited number of rods available this coming week if you fancy it. Contact Sarah to book. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk

    Cheers Brian
