Last week was a tough one for fishing, the river sat at 0" on the gauge on Monday and finishrd at - 2" on Saturday. Overhead it was cloudy/overcast for the first three days and then very hot and sunny the last three days, the water temperatures ranged between 60 to 56f over the week. However it wasn't totally futile as our fisherthem certainly put the hours in and they did connect with some fish and sea trout but unfortunately only managed to land two sea trout for the week with the largest of those being a 4lb er for Johnathan Lane from Invercannie.

The week ahead looks to be a hot one again with a chance of a thunder shower this evening but dry the rest of the week, the winds coming from an easterly/South East direction.

    Cheers Brian

The fishing conditions were very hard this past week with mostly bright blue skies and relentless sunshine but occasionally we did see some cloud which gave the rods a bit of a breather. It was certainly cooler in the mornings and evenings with a slight frost on Friday morning. The water temperatures varied from 55f on Monday to 60f on Saturday. We got off to a good start on Monday with an 8lb fish on a small Stoat Tail in the Cottage Run. Tuesday was fairly quiet. On Wednesday, Andy Ashcroft had a 2.5lb seatrout. Thursday we had three seatrout to 3lb. Friday a few fish were seen before the heat of the day got going and Saturday produced two 8lb ers, one from the Upper Salt Vat for Ian Anderson on a small Sunray in bright sunshine and Ewan Maclachlan landed his first Cairnton fish from the Grey Mare on a small JJ and was still carrying lice. This coming week looks to be pretty dry again but winds coming from an easterly direction so hopefully its slightly cooler.

At the start of last week the river was looking really good with a water height of 1' and a water temperature of 55 Fahrenheit so expectations were quite high for some fish but everything was pretty quiet on Monday. From Tuesday onwards conditions took a turn for the worse with the rest of the week seeing bright sunshine/clear skies and a steadily dropping river and although we did see a fish or two over the week we had to settle for a blank but a good effort from all the fishers who persevered from early mornings and into the late evenings.

The week ahead looks to be a dry with plenty of sunshine and some cloud with winds from a west and northerly direction.

We have rods available this week on both Cairnton and Middle Blackhall so if you did fancy a day out in beautiful surroundings on the river get in contact to book.

A fair mix of overhead conditions this past week which included bright sun, cloud, wind and some heavy showers. The water height started at 11" on Monday and dropped slowly as the week went on, pretty favourable for good fishing. We did see an odd fish the first couple of days but they weren't hanging around too long but long serving Cairnton fisher Mike Richardson from Bath managed to land a lovely 9 lber from the Garden Run on Tuesday, on an Allys Shrimp. The next 3 days were unusually quiet with only an odd fish seen but there was certainly some more life about on Saturday with more fish being seen as well as well as the odd coloured one or two plus fish being lost.

At the moment there is a small rise coming through so maybe it will be enough to stir the fish up a bit for this coming week.

The forecast looks cloudy with an odd shower the first half of the week then brighter and sunny for the second half of the week. Winds from a westerly direction.

If you fancy a cast please check the availability listing on our website and then book with Sarah.

Well we finally got rid of the Easterly wind that has been plaguing us for the last few weeks and welcomed a more spring like feel, warmer air temperatures and a softer atmosphere which makes a huge difference to spring growth on the river banks and trees however it wasn't all sunshine as we experienced quite a lot of thundery downpours on Tuesday resulting in a very heavily coloured river on Wednesday making the fishing pretty difficult however before and after that we had reasonable conditions and Henry Craven Smith landed our first of the week on Monday, a lovely 8lb er in the Grey Mare on a Cascade. Henry followed this up on Tuesday with our first sea trout of the season from Grey Mare and was 3lb.  On Thursday, Andy Ashcroft had an 8lber in the Malt Steep on an Allys Shrimp and that was us for the week.

The week ahead looks like rain for today (Sunday) then more showery for a few days with another band of rain moving over on Thursday and winds from a westerly direction.

As always you can check our availability on our own website and then book directly with Sarah.

Another week of very unseasonably cold weather for early May including a mix of drizzle, an odd brighter spell plus the cold easterly wind showing no let up of disappearing. On the odd occasion the temperature went up slightly and it did encourage a few dark olives to hatch and liven up some smolts. On the fishing front the fish were pretty dour although we did see some fish each day, some fresh and some that looked not quite so fresh. showing here and there. Catches for the week were two landed. Andy Ashcroft landing an 8lb er in the Malt Steep on Wednesday on a Gold Willie Gunn and David Mcleod landing his first of the season on the Kings coronation day, a lovely liced 7lb er on a Roncade in the Cottage pool.

The week ahead looks to be marginally warmer than we have been having, the winds swinging about a bit, some days from the east and some from a westerly direction and some rain mid week.

    Cheers Brian

Quite a quiet week for us but not through lack of effort or lack of fish as fish were being seen in most of the pools but that easterly wind certainly didn't do us any favours again. The height was pretty good all week for us with a small rise on Friday which did bring some fish through but apart from a few offers here and there we had to settle for a blank. This coming week looks dry for the first few days then some rain at the end of the week but still a bit of an easterly breeze present.

    Cheers Brian
